Located just 12km from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport [7.5mi], 18.3km from city center, and 30 mins from airport by transfer. Close to city but far enough for peace. Outside the city, off the main road down a dirt road — very well kept, secure, and peaceful.

The lodge has different accommodations and the chalets are all lovely — spacious, clean, comfortable, with great mosquito nets, hot water, huge beds. The owner is super nice and helpful — manager Dennis, Mwangala, Mr. B chef. Staff known for friendly, flexible service.

Pioneer appears to specialize in large/very large steaks which most guests rave about, plus local nshima with beef/chicken/fish, freshly cooked full English breakfast, and mouth-watering dinners prepared from scratch by Mr. B. Well-stocked reasonably priced bar.

More a lodge than a campsite but OK for both — ideal for self-drivers, overlanders, and stopover between Kafue and South Luangwa. Small cosy silent camp with 10-12 chalets plus camp space.
